INTRODUCTION

Cloud computing is often heard as part of the business jargon today. But in reality, it is the storage of software programs, applications, and data on a network of remote servers on the internet instead of directly on a local server or personal computer. Cloud computing is more efficient, and it fosters faster business operations. Due to this reason, its adoption rate has increased tremendously in recent years. Especially in the face of a global pandemic, more organizations are turning to cloud-based SaaS models.

According to GlobeNewswire, the cloud computing market is valued at US$ 405,295.8 million in 2022 and is expected to reach US$ 1,465,818.2 million by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 23. 9% from the forecast period 2022 to 2028.

Generally, cloud computing is categorized into three types:

Public cloud

Private cloud

Hybrid cloud

In detail, let’s now understand these cloud computing types and their benefits for businesses:

WHAT IS PUBLIC CLOUD?

The public cloud is the most significant solution shared across organizations or cloud tenants. It is operated by a third-party cloud service provider and delivered via the internet. The third-party cloud service provider owns and maintains all cloud resources, such as the servers and databases, and provides access based on a subscription model. Some of the most significant public cloud providers are SAP HANA, Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware, IBM, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. There are primarily three types of public cloud services:

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) – With SaaS, an external cloud service provider gives the user access to cloud applications that can be accessed via a web browser or a dashboard or API.

Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) – With PaaS, an external cloud service provider caters to the hardware and a basic application-software platform to the user. The user can use this infrastructure as the backbone to develop and maintain applications based on their requirements.

Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) – With IaaS, an external cloud service provider rents out cloud infrastructure to a user and is solely responsible for maintaining infrastructure involving the data storage, servers, network, etc. On the other hand, the user handles the software-related resources such as the OS and the applications independently.

Pros

Cons

Reduced costs – No need to purchase hardware or software; instead, you only pay for the infrastructure you use.

Controlled access – Helps secure organizational data.

No maintenance – The service provider takes care of configuring and maintaining the infrastructure on the cloud.

Highly scalable – Resources can be scaled up or down based on your business needs. This lends flexibility to the resources.

High reliability – A vast network of geographically distributed servers with failsafe strategies makes the resources secure and reliable.

Reduced control – Since a third-party provider controls your data storage, you cannot control how and where it is stored.

Increased security threats – Due to multi-tenancy and shared security norms among users, there are also shared security threats.

Swiftly mounting costs – If you are not careful, subscription or usage costs can swiftly increase with increased cloud usage.

WHAT IS PRIVATE CLOUD?

One organization uses a private cloud exclusively, with all the resources dedicated to one business. The business can either opt to hold their private cloud on-premise, i.e., at the company’s physical data center, or employ a third-party provider to host their cloud. In the case of hosted private clouds, the third-party provider maintains and manages the cloud for a stipulated fee from the organization. One of the primary benefits of having a private cloud is that an organization can customize its resources to meet its requirements.

Pros

Cons

Increased control – Since the cloud is dedicated to one business, the organization can control how its data is stored and managed, both in the case of on-premise or a third-party cloud.

More flexible – The organization can configure the cloud and its specifications as per their requirements and need not make peace with a cookie-cutter cloud.

High security — Since there are no shared cloud users, you can specify the type of security you want to have in place. This, in turn, makes your dedicated cloud infrastructure highly secure against unauthorized access or other security breaches.

Highly customizable – Businesses can customize all aspects of the private cloud to suit their business requirements.

Higher Cost – Since organizations need to invest in and maintain their cloud infrastructure, the Total Cost Of ownership (TCO) is much higher than a public cloud.

Reduced scalability – Scaling the cloud infrastructure is both costly and time-consuming as all resources, including the software, hardware, and network, need to be modified.

Complex maintenance – In the case of an on-premise cloud, organizations will have to maintain the entire infrastructure and its resources.

WHAT IS HYBRID CLOUD?

As the name suggests, a Hybrid cloud is a cloud computing ecosystem that combines the use of both public and private cloud services to create a unified, flexible, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure. Based on the user’s needs, a hybrid cloud allows application portability between the private and public parts of the cloud, wherein resources from either cloud type can be used to perform the required tasks. A Hybrid cloud is considered to be considerably better than exclusively using public or private cloud computing since it is more cost-effective and efficient.

Pros

Cons

Increased control, scalability, and flexibility – Companies can maintain a private cloud for susceptible assets and use additional public cloud resources as required.

Optimum cost—Since you scale to the public cloud only when required, you can cut costs.

High security – Since there are no shared cloud users, you can specify the type of security you want to have in place. Your dedicated cloud infrastructure is secure against unauthorized access or other security breaches.

Reduced downtime – There is no downtime due to the ability to move resources between the public and private clouds as required. Data can also be backed up on public servers when required.

Juggling between multiple servers – Organizations must balance multiple resources, vendors, and servers simultaneously.

Complex maintenance – Since this model has multiple facets, the overall maintenance becomes complicated and may lead to oversights due to lack of visibility.

Quick Comparison of Cloud Computing Types

Let’s quickly compare the pros and cons of the three cloud computing types to understand better what is best for your business.

Public Cloud

Private Cloud

Hybrid Cloud

Less costly

The Total Cost of Ownership leads to higher cost

Optimal costs

Highly reliable

Highly customizable

Highly flexible and customizable

Highly scalable based on need

Reduced scalability

Extremely scalable

No maintenance-related liability for the user

In the case of on-premise clouds, the user is responsible for the entire maintenance

Maintenance can get increasingly complex due to more resources that are involved

User has lesser control over the infrastructure used

User has complete control over the infrastructure used

Lesser probability of resource downtime

Costs can grow rapidly based on usage

Dedicated resources

Constant juggling between multiple resources

Risk of security threats from shared resources

Extremely secure

Balanced resource optimization

PUBLIC vs. PRIVATE vs. HYBRID CLOUD MODEL – Which one to choose for your business?

Now that we have seen the pros and cons of the different cloud computing systems, the most important question arises – which model should you choose for your business? Well, here are some pointers to keep in mind.

If your organization has an existing on-premise infrastructure, creating your own private cloud would be an effective investment. However, maintenance, management, and security liability fall squarely on your shoulders. But if your business requires high security, a private cloud is a way to go as you can control all security areas, be it the physical infrastructure or the databases and networks. Private clouds are often preferred by entities such as banks and federal agencies that deal with secure and critical information daily.

If your business has specific computing needs and has less sensitive data needs that require a predictable set of resources, then you can opt for a public cloud. Public clouds are entirely managed and maintained by a cloud service provider and are constantly kept up-to-date to provide you with high-functioning resources.

However, if you need the best of both worlds, opt for a hybrid cloud that unifies public and private cloud environments. While you can use the public cloud to perform temporary and less critical tasks. And you can use the private cloud to perform highly secure and confidential tasks. Simply put, hybrid clouds are the best option in highly regulated industries.

CONCLUSION

While we cannot single out a specific type of cloud computing as the best, you can make an informed choice based on your business requirements. To start with, understand the benefits, risks, and costs associated with each cloud solution. Following this, assess your own business and infrastructure capabilities to determine the best cloud computing option to suit the same. However, irrespective of which cloud environment you choose, ensuring that you have the right team and cloud service provider necessary to execute the cloud adoption successfully is critical.

In today’s world, digital transformation is on every business’s agenda. Especially in the phase of pandemic, we have seen an accelerated need for innovation, agility, and efficiency within industries. In a recent study by Accenture, 90% of business and IT executives agreed that to be agile and resilient, they need to fast-forward digital transformation, especially with cloud adoption at the core of their strategy.

Organizations today need to assess where they currently stand, address competitive gaps, and re-design their cross-functional business processes to achieve agility and flexibility. Moving to the cloud is one of the primary ways to do that.

Early last year, SAP announced RISE, a subscription program the company describes as digital transformation as a service with cloud at its core. Unlike its earlier innovations, with RISE, SAP is not focusing on creating new functionalities but on bundling a suite of existing cloud-based SAP assets and tools focused on providing organizations with business transformation as a service. Let’s now understand in depth about RISE with SAP.

WHAT IS RISE with SAP?

RISE with SAP is a comprehensive cloud solution that includes:

Cloud ERP: SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP Software is a backbone for every business need.

Business Process Transformation Starter Pack: Helps accelerate SAP S/4HANA Cloud Transformation and includes SAP Signavio Process Insights, SAP Signavio Process Manager, and SAP Signavio Process Collaboration Hub.

Business Platform and Analytics: Build an innovative and data-driven organization using SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and SAP S/4HANA Cloud that provides you with real-time insights and automates business processes

Business Networks: Services included in SAP Business Network Pack connect the S/4HANA system to the SAP Business Network and Support To Transact With Trading Partners On SAP Business Network.

Outcome-driven Services and Tools: Consists of services and tools from SAP and its partners. It includes Global Strategic Service Partners, Cloud Infrastructure partners, and Value Added Reseller (VAR) Partners.

Industry Next Scalable and Extensible Practices: Primarily, when announced in January 2021, the RISE program predominantly targeted five industries: Automotive, Consumer Products, Industry machinery & components, and Retail & Utilities. With newer releases, more and more industries stand to benefit from RISE with SAP.

HOW DOES RISE with SAP HELP BUSINESSES?

Helps understand business position: With RISE, SAP enables you to understand your current business position compared to your peers. The main objective is highlighting areas where you might lag and lose a competitive advantage.

Recommends solution for growth: SAP recommends in which direction you must proceed with your RISE program on your transformation journey.

Empowers cloud adoption: RISE with SAP allows companies to get started with cloud SAP solutions and encourages them to embrace the SaaS model to relieve them from the load of building servers, installing applications, and configuring them in the business environment. RISE helps customers apply technology to conduct their business better rather than running the technology itself.

Suggests right tool or applications: Along with cloud adoption, RISE helps take out the guesswork about what tools or applications an organization may need; Instead, the comprehensive suite of applications, tools, and services within RISE takes care of every business needs.

THE COMPONENTS OF RISE with SAP INCLUDES:

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Suite:

SAP uses its flagship ERP cloud suite, S/4HANA cloud, to run all your systems on the cloud with real-time business statistics and analytics.

With the RISE program, customers can work with SAP global partners to get a tailored offering when migrating their operations to the S/4HANA cloud without negatively impacting the business’s infrastructure.

The various tools and services that SAP and its global partners offer considerably simplify migration challenges.

SAP also works with hyperscalers to understand the infrastructure required for the move that you are contemplating with the RISE program.

SAP Business Network Starter Pack:

The RISE with SAP Business Network starter pack essentially brings three networks to the customer:

Ariba Business Network: Access to the full functionality with a subscription of up to 2000 preconfigured and pre-defined procure-to-pay documents to enable transactions. Additionally, you can access their Network Connectivity Services and Network Onboarding Services.

Asset Intelligence Network: Integration with S/4 HANA to exchange asset information with your equipment manufacturers

Logistics Business Network: Enables integration with S/4HANA to set up freight collaboration process.

SAP Business Technology Platform:

SAP Business Technology Platform or BTP is the technological foundation for all SAP applications and the Intelligent Enterprise.

It brings automation, data and analytics, AI, application development, and integration under one roof to help customers achieve agility and business value through integration and constant innovation.

SAP provides you with credits to use the platform when you sign up for RISE with SAP.

SAP also extends the rights to use the SAP assets and tools for supply, asset management, and logistics.

Business Process Intelligence:

There are seven components to the business process intelligence capabilities of RISE with SAP:

Analyze component: It allows data scientists to leverage system data to identify what’s working and what’s not and understand how users work within the system.

Design and simulate component: Helps you leverage existing business data to create and run business simulations to determine the best result.

Improve component: Helps you leverage advanced technologies like AI, no-code automation, and other advanced tools like SAP intelligent RPA to increase efficiency.

Roll out and govern component: Eases process management and governing. Allows collaboration and rollout of crucial documentation to all users from a single source.

Monitor component: It keeps tabs on solution performance and ensures everything runs smoothly.

Model and manage “Home Base” component: It is associated with the rollout and govern component as it gives departments a management area to collaborate on and view core processes.

Benchmark component: Helps you compare your businesses via aggregated industry information provided by SAP to enable concrete comparative analysis and provides recommendations for improvement areas.

Embedded Tools:

RISE with SAP provides access to services related to lifecycle management, analytics, support, and more to help customers move effectively to the cloud ERP solution like SAP S/4HANA cloud.

Some examples of services that RISE with SAP provides access to include deployment services and legacy code removal, supply chain process improvement, business scenario planning, and intelligent business design.

HOW DOES RISE with SAP CONTRACT WORK?

RISE with SAP is a ‘one-stop’ solution for all your transformation needs and includes software, services, and infrastructure. It comes with two options:

One offer: Get SAP bundled products at a single price.

One contract: Effectively manage SLA, operations, and issue management without signing separate contracts.

RISE with SAP bundles the infrastructure, applications, industry-specific tools, process insights, and access to business networks all in the same contract offering a very comprehensive set of capabilities. RISE with SAP not only endeavors to create a contract but to work closely with you to establish a well-thought-out, robust approach that has accounted for all the risks and benefits before moving further on the path to digital transformation.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Companies today are looking at business and digital transformation as one of the primary goals on their checklist. Especially in the case of more compact organizations with smaller IT footprints and budgets, a program such as RISE helps them effectively set out on their transformation journey without hampering their existing systems or breaking the bank.

Businesses of all sizes can benefit from RISE with SAP as it is a better alternative to instituting your own infrastructure. Providing on-demand, scalable cloud models to achieve cost efficiency and business continuity has made RISE with SAP imperative among organizations to rapidly accelerate their digital business transformation plans.

As coined by Henrik Ibsen, “A picture is worth a thousand words” this saying has not been more valid than in today’s age, where our ability to consume information quickly has increased at the cost of decreased attention spans. We live in an information age where we are bombarded constantly with data and stimuli, making it impossible to retain all that we read and learn. So what does this mean for businesses that consistently generate content? How to reach the target audience and ensure that our content is not lost in the din? Does this mean that all the information we generate is futile? No. The solution to combat dwindling attention spans is to rethink how we put out information.

Since our brains can process visual information almost 60,000 times faster than text, a visual format may seem the best answer. However, video production tends to be cost-heavy and has several drawbacks. Essentially, videos need to be short and may also require audio to be impactful. This is where a mixed media approach is the best solution – enter Infographics.

WHAT ARE INFOGRAPHICS?

An infographic conveys information or data in a visual format, including text, images, statistics, etc., to allow readers to understand the content quickly and easily. It compacts vast amounts of data to produce easy-to-assimilate information nuggets that tell a story. With an infographic, the audience can comprehend complex information quickly. Thus, infographics are one of the most effective data storytelling tools.

WHAT IS DATA STORYTELLING?

We live in an age of big data where data analytics and insights are increasingly used to support business. While gleaning insights and creating data sets is essential, so is knowing how to communicate this information as a straightforward, compelling story. This is a skill known as data storytelling.

Data storytelling is the art of effectively communicating insights from a complex dataset using narratives and visualizations to reach and influence a target audience. It uses visual elements such as graphs and charts as supporting evidence and text to break down complex insights that help make critical decisions more quickly.

Since a critical element of data storytelling is visualizations, infographics are the perfect tool to build them. Infographics in data storytelling meld multiple elements like visual design, the context of the communication, narrative, and the data itself into a neat, easy-to-assimilate package.

MAKING INFOGRAPHICS COMPELLING DATA STORYTELLERS

So what makes infographics tell compelling data stories? Below mentioned are some effective ways to design a compelling infographic:

Ensure relevance to the target audience

The entire point of creating an infographic to tell a data story is to reach the target audience and elicit the desired response. So, start with understanding the target audience and how best to cater the infographic to them.

Some questions you should ask while designing a story are:

Who is my audience?

Does this story focus on solving a problem they have?

How much do they already know about this topic?

What are some of the demographics I want to cater this story to? These could include factors such as the audience’s age, location, industry, etc.

Essentially, the story you are trying to convey with the help of the infographic must:

Be relevant to the audience

Fit with what they already know about the concept; and

Help them take a specific action or achieve a desired goal

While the story is the focus, it becomes pointless if it is not designed to be specific to the audience’s needs. So ruminate on what matters and is relevant to the audience to ensure a compelling data storyteller infographic.

Clear, easy-to-navigate design

Once the target audience is established and the story takes shape, think of the infographic design. Ensure the design is simple and organized so that information flows organically and tells a visual story. It\’s important to understand that the audience will assimilate data better if presented in a clean, hierarchical fashion. In this vein, prominent information must be at the very top and flow from left to right. Additionally, avoid using large textual chunks, too many visuals, and jarring colors.

Clear call to action

Remember that you are trying to tell a data story; all compelling stories need a takeaway. Be clear about what you expect your target audience to do once they have seen the infographic and include that as your call to action. The target audience must reach the desired conclusion without blatantly spelling it out.

Maintain a narrative arc

Infographics should be appropriately structured and must include an introduction, some context, a hook, and an eventual purpose. Ensure that the infographic adds value to the audience’s time to be effective. So maintain a compelling narrative arc and make the information concise and non-redundant.

Leverage good data insights

Data stories are primarily about the data insights, so ensure to add only well-researched and relevant data from reputable sources to the infographic. Corroborate insights with statistics and graphs from verifiable sources such as academic researchers, government entities, and industry-leading analysts.

Remember! Less is more

A common mistake when developing infographics is going overboard with the design and the amount of information presented. While it may seem like having a plethora of colorful illustrations and catchy text will get the job done, the truth is far from it. Too much content on an infographic distracts the audience from the story you are trying to tell. Everything from the color palette and the chosen fonts tends to impact how the audience absorbs the story. So factor that in and design an infographic that communicates a lot of data in a simple, easy-to-understand manner. Remember that less is more, and use minimal text and abundant space between each visual element.

CONCLUSION

We want to use data to help us make better decisions, and we want infographics to deliver the data effectively. Remember that everything from the insights to the infographic\’s design impacts how a data story is told and whether or not your content gets the desired attention. Knowing that we live in a predominantly visual world, we must tap into the fantastic potential infographics provide to efficiently deliver our stories to the right audience across various communication channels.

Since effective Content Marketing is the go-to digital marketing technique today, brands are constantly looking at innovative avenues to deliver complex information quickly and in an engaging manner to the right target audience. An infographic, in such a case, helps them appealingly convey relevant information or data.

Today, with digitization being central to every aspect of business, the volume of data generation is enormous. Leveraging the data collected is necessary to keep up with market demand and staying attuned to evolving customer expectations.

Let’s deep dive into the benefits of data analytics and the best practices to becoming a data-driven organization.

The Benefits of Data Analytics

Personalise the Customer Experience

66% of customers expect companies to understand their needs and expectations. Data analytics has changed the way brands connect with customers. For instance, Artificial Intelligence and [AI] and Machine Learning [ML] are bridging the gap between the high-volume of data being generated and the proficiency in leveraging the data to engage customers in real-time. Companies can now examine data points in real-time to anticipate market fluctuations and their customers in context.

Businesses can gain end-to-end visibility into the customer journey by analyzing transaction data, past purchases, omnichannel insights, market trends, and environmental conditions. Ranging from marketing to product development data analytics when done properly ensures continuous improvements.

Maintain Relevance

High quality data is increasingly crucial to enable companies update their current products while working on new ones. Collecting large volumes of data allows businesses to discern what works for their target demographic.

The age of instinct driving a company is long gone. Today, data analytics allows organizations to track customer feedback, product success, and what their competitors are up to. All of these help in building sound strategies to stay ahead.

Informed decision-making

Data analytics is a great asset to smart strategy and minimizing financial losses. This will be of immense help in a country like India. Predictive analytics can look for patterns in response to market changes while prescriptive analytics can predict how the business should adapt to these shifts.

For instance, changes to product offerings can be A/B tested to confirm the predictions produced by these models. Upon compiling sales data on the modified products, businesses can leverage data analytics to determine the outcome of the changes. These can also be visualized to help decision-makers choose if or when they choose to go ahead with them.

Streamlined Workflow

Data analytics is incredibly useful in optimizing the workflow. Collecting and analysing data about the supply chain can determine where production delays and bottlenecks arise. Data analytics can further predict where potential problems may surface. For instance, if a demand forecast indicates that a certain vendor will be unable to handle the quantity required for the holiday season, the business could choose to supplement or substitute this vendor to evade production delays.

Businesses, big and small, struggle with inventory management. Data analytics can help estimate the optimal supply for miscellaneous products based on factors such as seasonality, vacations, and secular trends. Data analytics works to streamline and provide visibility into the supply chain by tracking the release of products through data retrieval minimizing losses. This will ensure the inventory is well stocked and teams are aware of what products are running low.

Mitigate Risk

The pandemic has proved that risk management is essential to survival. A risk management plan is vital, regardless of the domain or industry. Being able to anticipate potential risk and mitigating is essential to remain profitable.

Data analytics works in developing sound risk management solutions through intelligent strategy. Additionally, data analytics works by eliminating guesswork through a range of techniques and technologies. This allows insights to be inferred, likely scenarios to be calculated, and potential future risks to be predicted proving to be especially in a country like India.

Best practices for becoming a data-driven organisation

Becoming a data-driven organization is no longer optional. In a country like India with regional markets each having different preferences and diverse market trends, it is essential to priortize data analytics. Here is a simple guideline that can be followed:

Clearly define your data strategy

Ranging from optimising production, improving data accessibility, to personalising products and services a clearly defined data strategy helps achieve business goals. Companies can begin by defining the outcomes and results they are hoping to accomplish from data transformation. This will help devise a strategy to achieve business goals using the various analytics tools available through the high quality datasets available.

Enable a culture of data

Successful companies and disruptors today are open to learning from data. This means they go beyond just using tools or terminologies, but are willing to foster a data culture in their companies. Data analytics is not just a term used in presentations, but what they learn from the data is put into practice. Enabling a culture of data begins with the leadership dedicated to guiding and sustaining any organization-wide changes.

Structure leadership

Robust leadership support is crucial for data transformation. This starts with the reporting framework. Today, the digital landscape is seeing data traverse within organisations. There are teams and personnel directly reporting to the CFO. This allows teams to work without silos, mediate conflicts easily, and achieve goals faster.

Cultivate a sound talent strategy

Up-skilling existing employees is necessary for in-demand data professionals to focus on mission-critical tasks. This allows experts to work in data analysis. Additionally, enterprises within a legacy framework need to develop an approach for attracting and retaining talent for data transformation and analysis.

Ensure easy data access

A major pain point within organizations today is their ability to scale and make the data accessible and available within a budget. Centralized access to data allows teams dispersed around the globe to work seamlessly. This means data needs to be categorized logically within a user-friendly platform that allows personnel to use, analyze, and be empowered through the information gleaned with minimal intervention from the IT department.

The Road Ahead

The pandemic has only accelerated the digital transformation journeys of various companies across industries. Generating business value from data through analytics is no longer optional, but a strategic imperative. However, in India, with legacy systems at every turn, this status quo is often a result of the prevailing culture.

Leaders today need to reevaluate existing business operations to take on the recurring micro-changes to become future-ready. Companies today have figured out that to maintain relevance in today’s digital landscape, access to real-time information is essential for strategy.

Dealing with stringent regulations around finance, tax, and reporting requirements has grown highly challenging. This has led to intense scrutiny and heavy fines in case of violations. Governmental finance departments, such as those in revenue or tax, are looking to access real-time data from companies to ensure compliance and accurate collection of tax.

Lack of centralized finance processes

With departments and teams working in silos, there is a distinct lack of consistency in end-to-end business processes. This makes data transfer, reporting, and access to data a multi-step, time-consuming process.

Employee resistance

The adoption of new technology such as automation is often met with resistance from the human workforce. The common misconception is that technology will replace the human workforce. This fear proves to be an enormous deterrent for streamlining business operations and scaling up.

The need for digital transformation

Automation allows optimal usage of resources. This saves time, money, and effort allowing personnel to focus on critical tasks. However, today automation has assumed importance beyond simply saving time.

Leveraging data-driven insights is essential to maintaining relevance and building business resilience with access to data. Data analytics is indispensable today to evolve and maximize ROI.

Further, automation makes it simple to maintain compliance and credibility while scaling up. Actionable insights from data help draft smart strategies taking into account market fluctuations, evolving customer demands, and future organizational goals.

How to start the transformation journey?

It is important to start with the premise that automation and digital transformation will only augment the work done by people and not replace them. The best way to do this is to start by automating non-value-add functions or repetitive tasks. The immediate effect will be the availability of time to focus on mission-critical tasks.

Organizations need to understand the significance of data and begin preparing to leverage them. The insights gained will contribute massively to business strategy and act as an execution enabler. Further, finance R&D needs to be encouraged for analysis, streamlining business processes, and identifying scope for improvement.

Additionally, digital transformation requires attracting and retaining talent, change management, continuous learning, and upskilling. It is imperative to understand that automation will not improve ROI overnight. Regardless of automation, inefficient processes lead to shoddy accounts.

The Client

Privi Speciality Chemicals Limited (PRIVI) is India\’s leading manufacturer, supplier, and exporter of aroma and fragrance chemicals. Formerly known as Fairchem Speciality Limited, PRIVI is now a globally trusted partner and supplier of aroma chemicals. Under Mr Mahesh Babani, the company has grown to Rs. 1,324 crore corporation in FY2020, registering a CAGR of 18% over the last ten years.

PROJECT PHOENIX

PRIVI embarked upon a digital transformation journey with its first project, Project Phoenix, a Greenfield implementation of SAP\’s S/4 HANA solution. The solution was implemented across all existing legal entities of the PRIVI group, including the USA and Europe.

\”Information is the oil of the 21st century, and analytics is the combustion engine.\”

~ Peter Sondergaard, Gartner Research

Data fuels today\’s business world. With the economic and social fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, data analytics has become a game-changing technology that Boards of Directors and CEOs have placed as their No.1 priority, investing much time and resources into the technology.

The post-COVID period has brought new challenges and priorities for business leaders, bringing in an urgent imperative to generate business value using data and innovative approaches to leveraging analytics technologies. In short, business leaders, including CIOs and CDOs, are now looking at data analytics to strengthen business models, making organizations more nimble and capable of responding to future disruptions quickly.

This paper will give you an in-depth insight into data analytics, types, business use cases, and the latest data and analytics trends that are helping organizations grow and respond to radical uncertainties and opportunities.

What is Data Analytics?

Data analytics is the art and science of analyzing raw data to draw contextual, meaningful, and valuable conclusions from that information. In today\’s highly digitized world, most of the techniques and processes of data analytics have been automated using powerful technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning that work over raw data for easier human consumption.

Today, any data can be subjected to analysis using AI and other technologies to reveal trends and metrics that help optimize business operations. Such valuable insights may otherwise be lost in the mass of structured and unstructured data generated by organizations every day.

A simple example could be manufacturing companies recording the runtime, downtime, and work queue for different machines at the factory to derive insights, help plan workloads better, and allow machines to operate at their maximum capacity.

Big Data, characterized by high volume, great variety, and high velocity, has been used by organizations to derive business intelligence for the past few years. With more technology now appearing on the market to assist us in accessing big data, the market is growing at an astronomical rate, set to reach a value of $103 billion by 2027.

However, today\’s organizations no longer distinguish between the efforts to manage and capitalize upon big or non-big data.

In fact, everything is data for them. Leading analyst firm Gartner recognizes the transition from big to small and wide data as one of today\’s top data and analytics trends.

Having defined what data analytics is, we\’ll next move on to the types of data analytics and how they can help improve business processes, outcomes, and decisions.

Types of Data Analytics

Data-driven decision-making implies using big or non-big data to enhance decision-making processes.

AI analytics is a subset of business intelligence that leverages machine learning techniques to find new patterns, discover insights, and unearth relationships in the data. In short, artificial intelligence techniques take up the burden and automate most of the work that a data analyst would typically perform and even augment the speed and granularity of the data that can be analyzed.

Decision-making models majorly capitalize upon prescriptive analytical techniques to generate outputs that specify the actions. However, there are other core analytics techniques, and we\’ll be studying each of these below.

1.Predictive analytics

Predictive analytics typically plays with probabilities to forecast a series of outcomes overtime or bring forth uncertainties related to multiple possible outcomes (simulation). It tells us what is likely to happen but does not suggest what should be done.

Predictive analytics leverages regression analysis, forecasting, predictive modelling, multivariate statistics, and pattern matching techniques.

2. Prescriptive analytics

Prescriptive analytics suggests the best way to achieve or influence an outcome, helping drive action. Predictive analytics works best with prescriptive analytics, drawing on predictive insights to comprehend what can be done or how particular outcomes can be influenced. Combining the two is usually the first step in finding solutions to business challenges.

Prescriptive analytics encompasses rule-based approaches (leveraging known knowledge in a structured manner) and optimization techniques to discover optimal outcomes within constraints and generate feasible, action-oriented plans. Prescriptive analytics uses recommendation engines, graph analysis, simulation, and complex event processing techniques.

3. Descriptive analytics

Descriptive analytics relies on business intelligence (BI) tools, data visualization, and dashboards to answer questions like \”What happened?\” or \”What is happening?\” The raw material procurement department may want answers to simple questions like \”What did we spend on \”Item A\” last month?\” and \”Who are our biggest vendors for commodity X?\”

4. Diagnostic analytics

Diagnostic analytics necessitates a more detailed drill-down and comprehensive data mining abilities to answer, \”Why did \”Event X occur?\” For example, sales leaders can capitalize upon diagnostics to identify the behaviours of sellers who are on track to meet their quotas.

For CIOs and CDOs, understanding the nitty-gritty of these analytics techniques will be critical to comprehending the infrastructure, roles, and capabilities of their respective organizations will need to be entirely data-driven.

Data Analytics: On-premise vs. Cloud

By 2025, 463 exabytes of data will be created each day, the equivalent to around 212,765,957 DVDs.

That is where cloud analytics comes into the picture. While similar to on-premise analytics, cloud analytics stores and analyzes data in the cloud to draw out actionable insights.

While cloud and on-premise analytics involve advanced machine learning algorithms applied to voluminous data collections to produce meaningful insights and conclusions, cloud analytics is generally more efficient than the latter.

And why so? — On-premise analytics requires businesses to purchase and maintain expensive data centres. Even though on-premises analytics solutions give companies control over the privacy and security of internal data, the vast volumes of structured and unstructured data produced each day make them difficult and expensive to scale.

On the other hand, cloud analytics\’s scalability, service model, and cost savings structure make it a better option from a cost optimization perspective.

Since businesses generate a hefty data load, cloud analytics tools come in handy. They are particularly efficient for processing massive data sets, creating meaningful insights on demand and in easily digestible formats, resulting in more streamlined user experiences.

Role of Data and Analytics in Business

Data and analytics are soul food for modern businesses. Data analytics can accurately predict outcomes for all types of decisions. Still, it can also help business leaders discover new questions, solutions, and opportunities — even those they had not even considered.

Progressive organizations use data to make smarter business decisions. Moreover, in today\’s fast-paced digital environment, data analytics also catalyzes more agile, flexible, and faster decisions related to the organization\’s digital strategy.

Data-driven decisions not only drive prudent action, they equally determine when it may be the wisest decision not to act. Progressive organizations are leveraging data analytics to create a data-driven enterprise, quantify business outcomes, and foster data-rich decision-making.

While organizations can access a lot more data than ever before, different industries can leverage data analytics in distinct ways to deliver better experiences.

Let\’s explore…

Data Analytics Use Cases in Different Industries

Manufacturing

Equipment Maintenance

Data analytics can help analyze structured (year, model, and make) and multi-structured equipment data (sensor data, engine temperature, error messages, log entries, etc.). Such analysis can help enhance equipment uptime and deploy cost-effective maintenance. Manufacturing organizations can predict equipment failure and forecast the remaining optimal life of systems and components to ensure they perform within set specifications.

Operational efficiency

Analyzing and assessing big data within factories and manufacturing units can help organizations improve production processes, respond to customer feedback proactively, and anticipate future demands for materials and stock. Enhanced operational efficiency ultimately leads to greater profitability.

Production optimization

Production optimization plays a significant role in reducing costs and increasing manufacturing revenue. Understanding the flow of items through production lines can reveal what steps can increase production time and which areas lead to unnecessary delays.

Healthcare

Improving patient care

Analyzing big and non-big data can help hospitals and other healthcare organizations get a 360-degree view of patient care, including patient history and past and current treatments. The patient seeks medical care in different departments, helping improve patient care dramatically at lower costs.

Detecting claims fraud

Every healthcare claim comes with hundreds of associated reports in different formats, making it extremely challenging to verify the accuracy of claims and prevent fraud. AI-enabled data analysis helps healthcare organizations detect potential fraud by identifying anomalous activity and patterns that flag certain behaviours.

Genomic analysis

AI-driven data analytics can help healthcare researchers identify disease genes and biomarkers that pinpoint future health issues in patients. Consequently, healthcare personnel can design personalized treatment plans to prevent or mitigate disease.

Retail

Intelligent product development

Data analytics can help with intelligent product development. Data analytics can help build predictive models and prototypes for future offerings by identifying product attributes that gained popularity and commercial success. Moreover, digging deeper into data from focus groups, test markets, early store rollouts, and social media can help launch new products.

Enhancing customer experience

Like patient care, data analytics can also provide a 360-degree view of customers. By gathering data from customer purchases, and customer behaviour, including social media interactions, web visits, and other company interactions, companies can proactively offer greater customer value, increase CSAT, reduce churn, and maximize revenue.

Ensuring lifetime customer value

Retail organizations need to realize that some customers may be more valuable than others. They will be willing to spend the most money, over the most prolonged period of time, in the most consistent manner.

And data analytics is the best way to pinpoint such customers. AI-driven information analytics provide valuable insights into customer behaviour and spending patterns. Once a company knows its best customers, it can allot devoted sales team executives to them and target special sales offers.

Product propensity

Product propensity analytics studies the combined data on purchasing activities and customers\’ online behaviour (metrics from social media and e-commerce platforms). It then correlates this data to gauge the effectiveness of different campaigns and social media channels concerning the company\’s products and services. The company will get to know which customers are more likely to buy your products and services and the channels that are most likely to reach those customers, allowing them to maximize revenue.

Price optimization

Retailers must know the pricing potential of their markets and the true spending potential of their customers. End-to-end analysis of profit and margin data can pinpoint pricing improvement opportunities and areas where profits may be leaking.

Sentiment Analysis

A significant use case of data analytics common to all customer-facing industries is sentiment analysis. Today customers live on the internet. Whether it\’s social media sites like Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook, or feedback shared on the company\’s web portal or app, brands are being talked about everywhere. But It\’s very challenging for companies to be everywhere at all times.

Hence, capturing and reviewing everything said about your organization is impossible.

However, by leveraging web search and crawling tools on customer feedback and posts, companies can create analytics that provides a sense of their reputation within key markets and demographics and delivers proactive recommendations to deal with it.

Personalized merchandising

To improve the overall merchandising experience and encourage customers to complete purchases, retailers can analyze data from mobile apps, websites, in-store purchases, and geolocations.

Banks and other financial services

Prevention of fraud

The banking and financial services industry is constantly up against an entire team of expert hackers to ensure security and data privacy. In a constantly evolving security and compliance landscape, machine learning-driven data analytics can help the BFSI industry identify patterns that are indicative of fraud and aggregate enormous volumes of financial information to streamline regulatory reporting and compliance.

Driving innovation in products and services

Data analytics makes the interdependencies between customers, processes, institutions, and markets more apparent. A better understanding of market trends, regulatory requirements, and customer needs can help organizations innovate new products and services.

Anti-money laundering

Anti-money laundering laws require banks and financial services institutions to show proof of due diligence and hand over suspicious activity reports. In this regard, AI-driven big data analytics can help companies detect anomalous activity and identify potential fraud patterns.

Oil and Gas

Equipment Maintenance

Oil and gas companies often lack complete visibility into equipment conditions, especially in deep-water and remote off-shore locations. The industry leverages IoT sensors to monitor and track the performance and health of machinery, oil wells, and equipment operations.

Data analytics can help uncover valuable insights from this information so that companies can predict the remaining optimal life of their systems and components, ensuring assets operate at optimum efficiency.

Oil exploration

AI-driven analytics can unearth valuable information from data generated by seismic monitors at new drilling and production sites. Such data can find new oil and gas sources by identifying traces that might have been overlooked before.

Optimizing oil production

Using predictive analytics and unstructured sensor and historical data, companies can optimize oil well production, understand usage rates, and determine the reason behind differences in actual good output and the predicted numbers.

Telecommunications

Network capacity optimization

Optimal network performance is key to a telecom\’s success. Network usage analytics can help telecoms list areas with excess capacity and reroute bandwidth. Moreover, data analytics can help plan network infrastructure investments and design services that meet customer demands.

Avoiding customer churn

Telecom companies can leverage analytics to study service quality, network performance, and convenience and draw conclusions about overall customer satisfaction. They can also set up alerts when customers are at risk of churning and proactively send personalized offers and activate retention campaigns to lure back customers. This way, telecoms can maintain customer loyalty and avoid losing revenue to competitors.

Designing personalized customer offerings

An improved understanding of customer behaviour, intention, and preferences enables companies to tailor new services and features to different customer segments.

The Future of Data Analytics

Indeed, business leaders have learned valuable lessons in the past two years. The most significant of them is that every digital business moment, big or small, is powered by data analytics.

Boards of Directors and CEOs are investing much in AI-driven technologies to gain repeatable and sustainable value from data.

Siloed data, a focus on data for its sake, misalignment of stakeholder expectations and outcomes, and the assumption that acquiring the right technologies for analysis of valuable information will suffice are some colossal challenges business leaders will have to face to move forward strategically amid continued disruption.

C-suite executives must realize that data analytics is no longer an alone strategy merely about dashboards and reports. Today, a business strategy infused with data and analytics is needed to make smarter business decisions.

Changing the perception of data analytics as merely an IT service that runs reports on request is vital to embedding it as a core business strategy central to business functioning.

Here, the role of the Chief Data Officer (CDO) comes to the forefront. CDOs are responsible for orchestrating their data assets to guide decision-makers using valuable data insights. Gartner\’s research suggests that by 2022, 30% of CDOs will partner with their CFO to formally value the organization\’s information assets for improved information management and benefits.

Gartner predicts that if chief data officers (CDOs) are involved in setting goals and strategies, they can increase the consistent production of business value by 2.6X.

Moreover, creating a conducive environment wherein data literacy takes precedence is essential for driving meaningful organizational change. By 2023, data literacy will become an explicit and necessary driver of business value, demonstrated by its formal inclusion in over 80% of data and analytics strategies and change management programs.

Driving meaningful change management by creating awareness and spreading positive word of mouth about how outcome-driven data analytics can deliver the most significant business impact is imperative.

Below we discuss the leading data analytics trends that can drive radical change in economic, market, and technology dynamics, helping organizations anticipate and shift and respond to the disruption in the coming years.

Data fabric, a single environment consisting of a unified architecture, services, or technologies for managing data, is the foundation of data analytics.

Augmented analytics, a leading business analytics trend, uses natural language processing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to automate data analytics and insight discovery. Augmented analytics enhances business outcomes and makes business processes relatively easier, from data preparation to data processing, to derive meaningful conclusions.

As opposed to big data, small and comprehensive data are helping companies enhance contextual awareness and augment decisions on complex and scarce data use cases.

IoT, or the Internet of Things, contributes a significant chunk to the development of today\’s Big Data and data analytics landscape. Research by IDC says that the number of IoT devices connected to the web could rise to 41.6 billion by 2025. Moreover, 127 devices connected to the internet every second. These devices produce five quintillion bytes of data a day, which is a tremendous amount of information.

Replacing predefined static dashboards and manual data exploration restricted to data analysts or citizen data scientists, conversational, mobile, and more dynamically generated insights, will be the future of data analytics.

XOps, a combination of AIOps, MLOps, DevOps, BizDevOps, and GitOps, will ensure reusability, reliability, and repeatability and operationalize data and analytics to drive business value.

Final Thoughts!

According to a study, there is so much online data that it would take 181 million years to download everything. However, today\’s businesses need to leverage only the tiniest portion of this data. This is where data analytics comes into being.

Today, AI and analytics are the no.1 and no.2 priorities of Boards of Directors and C-suite executives.

Creating a data-driven culture that prioritizes data literacy and change management will help embed data analytics in business strategy and build an outcome-driven organization.

Indeed, data analytics is not just a trending topic, nor is it a passing buzzword. Instead, it is one of today\’s and tomorrow\’s most critical strategic opportunities that will be used to control, improve, and redefine every industry.

The Expo 2020 in Dubai was a revolutionary edition held for the first time in the Middle East Region, especially after the pandemic onset. It was and is a celebration of human achievements and a promising future ahead – where the whole world got together for the show like no other.

The main theme of this Expo 2020 was – connecting minds and creating a future through opportunity, sustainability, and opportunity. So, several countries have joined in this Expo 2020 edition, which created a fresh air of excitement to create a better and brighter future.

Apart from being the largest pavilion, the Saudi pavilion turned several heads by bagging an award for the ‘Best Pavilion’ category, two honorary awards, and three Guinness World Records.

This pavilion was specially designed to reflect the kingdom’s past, present, and future – and it stood over its vision. The brilliance behind this excellence is Boris Micka Associates.

The Past –

After the pavilion entrance, a large 68 square meters curved screen is installed. Their unique cultural heritage is showcased, including Farasan Island, Tabuk Mountains, The Red Sea, Wadi Al-Barzani, and others.

Another highlight of the pavilion is showcases of UNESCO-registered sites that include the historic center of Jeddah, Al-Ahsa Oasis, rock arts in the Hail region, and others.

The Present and Future –

Electric windows were installed to showcase the present and what the future embodies for Saudi Arabia to display scenography crystals that display their outstanding and environmentally friendly projects focused on their vision of 2030.

Including that, it was also a platform for building partnerships and investment opportunities in different sectors.

On the whole, this pavilion inspires Saudis, especially the youth, to build a better tomorrow.

2. Alif – The Mobility Pavilion

This pavilion is named after the first alphabet of Arabic – which symbolizes the beginning of new horizons and progress.

Alif pavilion was specially designed with the vision to break down the bridge between the physical and digital worlds. For achieving this, the Expo 2020 team has gathered Weta workshop from New Zealand, Magnopus visual development studio LA and Barker Langham global cultural consultancy – who created a three-part story that depicts human imagination, vision, and achievements in terms of mobility.

It is designed in a curved shape to depict the movement and highly reflective stainless-steel cladding inspired by fenders and aircraft wings to reflect movement as well. In addition to that, the visible lines of building large portray how we are connected and yet physically apart.

This architectural masterpiece is built partly underground and partly open-air over a 330-meter track.

The main highlights of this pavilion included immersive virtual installation, the nine-meter-tall giant of early explorers from 15th century Arab civilization, and the world’s largest passenger lift that can transport 160 people at once.

Overall, this pavilion showcases the futuristic mobility options that significantly improve our quality of life.

3. The State of Palestine

The state of Palestine pavilion provided us with ground-breaking and eye-catching at the same time.

It is specially designed to savour the rich culture and everlasting heritage by taking the visitors through a time journey and experiencing the magic through every one of the five senses.

Unlike many other pavilions in the Expo 2020, the Palestine pavilion mainly focuses on cultural aspects. In addition to that, it showcases the developments in technology, business, education, and art.

The visitors start by moving through the halls of the pavilion designed to depict the replicas of Jerusalem and the old streets and narrow alleyways, and decorative arches of Palestine. They move through the opportunities in different sections, including olive-wood goods, cement, textiles, and delicious snacks from their cuisine.

After that, you can don a virtual-reality headset that ensures the immersive experience of the buzzing streets of Jerusalem from the Dome of the Rock to the Church of Holy Sepulcher, which brings the whole experience together.

Overall, the Palestine pavilion reflects deep historic land and its amazing progress into the future. It also showcased an open door for many technological opportunities and investments.

Final Thoughts

The Expo 2020 Dubai has been a remarkable collaboration in scale and innovation. This event has become a good opportunity for several countries to breathe the fresh air of positiveness after the pandemic.

In terms of scale, thought-provoking innovation, and creative architecture, this Expo will remain the best and most remarkable. This event has shown what we can achieve, from artificial intelligence to innovation in more sustainable ways. This event has allowed businesses to explore more horizons and experience stipulated benefits.

The rapidly changing world of work has indeed made attracting and retaining top talent a different ball game altogether. Terms like “employee experience,” “workplace transformation,” etc., are generating a lot of buzz in business circles in the post-pandemic era. Even the numbers say so.

78% of HR leaders firmly believe that EX will be one of the most critical factors impacting firms’ ability to deliver on business objectives. Moreover, the 2021 Employee Experience survey conducted by Willis Towers Watson indicates that more than 9 in 10 (92%) employers believe enhancing EX will be a priority over the next three years — up from 52% before the pandemic.

So, what exactly is employee experience? EX is the totality of all employee experiences throughout the journey they undertake within an organization, including everything from recruitment, selection, and onboarding to career progression, development, and exit. In leading analyst firm Gartner’s words, “Employee experience is how employees internalize and interpret their interactions with their organization and the context that underlies those interactions.”

Below, we’ll discuss how employee expectations have transformed today’s business context and what C-suite leaders can do to address these. Moreover, we’ll delve deeper into the business impact of a positive employee experience.

Understanding employee experience in the rapidly changing business landscape

As an aftermath of the COVID-19 catastrophe, employee interactions have become more virtual, mobile, and distributed. We have now entered what is touted as the “new normal,” a world of hybrid workers wherein some employees return to the office while the others juggle between in-office and remote work.

The pandemic has birthed the concept of “putting people first.” And for excellent reasons too. As employees shifted to “working from home,” social interactions dwindled, and business leaders witnessed mounting issues in communication and collaboration amongst teams. Add to that the disengagement from working in silos and the anxiety of contracting the disease, and EX leaders were up against the wall dealing with an increasingly demotivated workforce and stressful workplace dynamics.

Today’s HR leaders have quickly gauged how critical employee experience is. Forrester Consulting’s research shows that more than a quarter say it is the most important aspect of their HR strategy. Another 42% say it is very important, a significant jump from two years ago when only 9% considered EX the most crucial factor.

But why is creating positive employee experiences essential? The answer is simple. The smallest moments of an employee’s experience with the organization directly affect engagement and performance and encompass how an employee feels about the brand’s vision and culture.

A positive employee experience (EX) can accrue significant returns, also known as the returns on experience (ROX). Let’s explore further.

Measuring Returns on Employee Experience (ROX)

Is it worth investing in employee experience in today’s dynamic business landscape? Well, the facts below are sure to create solid favourable arguments.

Decreasing employee turnover

Research shows that a highly engaged workforce can reduce a company’s turnover by 25-59%.

Reduced recruitment costs

Employees who have positive experiences with their organization stay longer (87% vs. 66%) and recommend their employer to job seekers (84% vs 59%) compared to their less satisfied peers.

Improved bottom-line results

Forrester Consulting surveyed 900 global HR decision-makers and found that 77% reported increased revenue, and 61% experienced improved profitability.

Interlinking customer experience with EX

Forrester found that 75% of HR leaders reported improved CSAT scores resulting from effective employee experience initiatives in the same survey.

Amidst the pandemic, 90% of surveyed customers stated that they cared deeply about how brands treated their employees, with 67% claiming an “employee-first” attitude as very important.

Developing a compelling employee experience strategy

Developing effective employee experience practices can help organizations create personalized and more meaningful employee engagement and build a more comprehensive view of their emotional and cognitive states.

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit communities globally, the business world has witnessed digitalization unprecedented.

Research has shown that brands with more advanced technology and organizational practices see a return of 3.73% on their EX investments, compared to just 2.24% in less mature counterparts.

Consequently, digital employee experience, or DEX, is the latest buzzword amongst the business community. DEX constitutes the type of interactions employees have with the technology in their environment.

Employee experience platforms or digital workplaces unify the apps, tools, and information employees need for communication, collaboration, and knowledge discovery. These platforms allow brands to establish a sense of well-being and purpose in a hybrid setup while solving social isolation, lack of communication, and difficulties in accessing information.

Moreover, C-suite leaders must identify the aspects of employee experience that their organization must focus on and consequently collect data around the same. For example, suppose employee well-being is a priority. In that case, organizations must leverage technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data, and predictive analytics to map data about how people work vs how they feel, build healthy work patterns by studying work habits that lead to burnout and obtain actionable recommendations on focused work and mindful disconnect.

Final thoughts!

Your people are your most significant assets. Investments in employee experience are:

Your most potent investments.

Bringing intangible benefits such as enhanced individual and team efficiency.

Higher engagement and lower retention.

Increased productivity and revenue.

Exceptional customer satisfaction scores.

Therefore, well-designed employee experience programs, backed by the most powerful technologies, will surely set up your organization for tremendous success.

Rubber product manufacturing is a large and diverse industry. Rubber products have numerous applicants in the automotive end use industry, tires, conveyor belts, consumer products, and other sectors. It is tied to the global economy and has witnessed steady and strong growth over the years. The Asia Pacific region including India has a large number of manufacturers and is one of the highest growth market owing to rising demand.

The industry has kept pace with technological developments and the industry exhibits specific needs which are typical of global innovation industries. Compared to other contemporaries in the similar processing group, such as metals and food and beverage industries, requirements are diverse in rubber manufacturing. This adds complexity to the rubber business, which has grown over time and relies on round-the-clock research and development on certain critical points to preserve its long-term viability and relevance.

Challenges are diverse and, given the multiple procedures that must be performed every day to maintain a functional facility, the rubber industry asks for a system which can efficiently cater to all the issues. And, thus, SAP S/4 HANA is a perfect match for this manufacturing industry.

We at AAKIT, had a conversation with our clients (directors of Madura Industrial Textiles Pvt Ltd.) to evaluate the challenges they used to face in the rubber industry and how SAP S/4 HANA implementation has solved them. Listed below are a few pointers extracted from the conversation about the issues before SAP S/4 HANA implementation.

Issues and complications in the rubber industry

From creating the initial rubber shape to the final production of the finished polymer, rubber manufacturing is a multi-stage process. When the processes are managed manually, chances of errors in end product as well as in customer relationships are highly likely. This can lead to innumerable crises in the industry.

Madura Industrial Textiles Pvt Ltd. also creates goods for other industries, such as the automobile industry in the form of tyres. As a result, these rubber manufacturers must verify that their interests meet industry standards. So, the accurate requirement of any such system which can cater to all the upcoming difficulties is hard to find.

Manufacturing supply chains are becoming increasingly complex across the board. This is especially true for rubber producers. Customers expect rubber companies to create a wide range of intricate, customized goods. And it becomes a tedious task to manage manually.

Advantages of SAP S/4 HANA implementation in rubber manufacturing industries

Let’s look at the significant advantages that our clients experienced after SAP S/4 HANA implementation.

Improved process visibility: SAP S/4 HANA serves as a centralized, easily accessible \”single source of truth\” for all system processes. Anybody can obtain information from any department or division, making it a little easier to create coordination, collaboration, and communication to offer benefits and innovations, as detailed below.

Communication between departments: As visibility across processes and functions improves, communication barriers are broken down. Process \”silos\” – the \”walls\” between distinct groups and functions that are invisible (or real) — can result in repetitive work, inefficiencies, and missed possibilities for collaboration. Open channels, transparency and accountability are how SAP S/4 HANA tackles these issues.

Centralized data collection and analysis: From QA tracking to machine sensors and more, SAP S/4 HANA supports the advanced, data-focused facility and all the perks that this extraordinary amount of insight and knowledge affords. In areas like maintenance, equipment usage, procurement, supply chain, and more, data analysis may help you make better, more informed decisions.

Process efficiency will improve as more data is collected and employees become accustomed to the enhanced visibility afforded by SAP S/4 HANA. As a result, procedures will become more streamlined, cross-functional efficiencies will be recognized, and productivity will rise.

Cost savings in total: One of the ultimate key benefits of SAP S/4 HANA investment is cost reductions and efficiencies, which come with the above perks.

Automated and Streamlined Business Processes with greater Adaptability: For manufacturing companies, a full SAP S/4 HANA solution streamlines business operations and fosters automation. All data is available in a centralized location with comprehensive visibility in all capabilities – designing, development, inventory, production, procurement, finance, delivery, sales, and more, thanks to the simplification of operations.

Furthermore, without relying on a single person or team, every team member can observe the manufacturing status in real-time. For example, the design team can keep track of production progress and inform the procurement and financing departments about the need for extra raw materials.

This increases system efficiency, boosts production and aids businesses in keeping their client obligations. The company minimizes its reliance on manual operations by automating processes with SAP S/4 HANA for the manufacturing industry. This speeds up the manufacturing process, but it also reduces errors and boosts profitability.

Response to Market Conditions Quicker: SAP S/4 HANA for the manufacturing industry provides real-time data analysis, which aids organizations in better estimating, planning, adjusting, and responding to changing market demands. Frequently, decision-makers consult system-generated information to comprehend changing market demands better and capitalize on customer purchase trends. Managers may get a 360-degree perspective of their business with detailed insights, which helps them decrease forecasting errors and capitalize on new possibilities when they arise.

Strategic Decision Making: A complete SAP S/4 HANA solution for manufacturing increases an organization\’s decision-making ability. It gives the organization detailed insights and visibility into every department and business process, allowing it to make more educated, accurate, and timely business choices. Access to key performance measures like overall sales, sales margin, and so on helps manufacturing organizations stay on track with their objectives and make essential internal decisions. SAP S/4 HANA for the manufacturing industry helps management optimize day-to-day operations by providing total visibility of internal processes and departments.

Maintenance planning, scheduling, and strategy are just a few of the operations that SAP S/4 HANA software may help with.

Clients review on AAKIT’s SAP S/4 HANA solution

Sahil Kalra, co-director of Madura Industrial Textiles Pvt Ltd., appreciated our dedication and was pleased with the way AAKIT took care of the whole transformation. In his words,

“AAKIT was very professional throughout the implementation. The employees showed continuous support to help us get through any challenges before us.”

Conclusion

You must be able to keep up with the ever-changing technical developments in increasingly tough corporate competition. Using manual or archaic methods to run your business can leave you behind. Why haven\’t you automated your processes as other business owners have?

SAP S/4 HANA can help you simplify various complex activities, increase efficiency, cut expenses, and boost your company\’s production. It can be used by enterprises of several types, including small, medium, and large ones.

Now that you know what SAP S/4 HANA software is, you can learn about its history, benefits, deployment types, typical modules, and factors to consider when selecting it. The following step is to identify all of the difficulties that your company is encountering and the required solutions.
